Sexing Therapy: Sex Therapy for the Non-Sex Therapist Monday 15/10
This one-day workshop introducing practitioners to working with sexual issues. Many health practitioners find initiating talk about sex and people’s sex lives daunting and, in some cases rude and invasive. Yet, part of a healthy life is a healthy sex life. This workshop aims to de-mystify sex in therapy.
In this workshop participants explore definitional issues of out-of-control sexual behaviour, including the debate of the existence of addictions or not. The definitional position a therapist takes informs the intervention chosen. Participants will explore the social construction of sexual problems, especially behaviours like hyper sexuality, high porn use, and chronic masturbation. Participants will also explore out-of-control sexual behaviours from a cognitive, behavioural, neurobiological, and developmental-dynamic perspective.
