Ashley Macklin is a trained sex therapist and experienced counsellor. Ashley completed his Master of Science in Medicine specialising in Psychosexual Therapy at the University of Sydney and Master of Counselling at Monash University. He is an Accredited Level 2 Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association and a member of the Society of Australian Sexologists.  Ashley has experience working with people from diverse backgrounds to address their issues. He has worked across a variety of settings including community health organisations such as Anglicare Victoria and in private practice in mental health clinics.

Ashley assist clients with anxiety disorders including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and PTSD; depression and mood disorders; grief and trauma as well as problematic gambling behaviours (gambling addiction). He is experienced in providing therapy for gambling issues and gambling addictions.  He also provides sex therapy focusing on men and sexual function issues (erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation/rapid ejaculation, and delayed ejaculation); out-of-control sexual behaviours (sex addiction and porn addiction); and diverse relationship structure like polyamorous  relationships and open relationships.  Ashley is comfortable supporting clients from the kink and fetish communities.

Ashley welcomes diverse clients from all backgrounds including all gender expressions, diverse sexual orientations, and different cultural backgrounds. He has worked with adults, adolescents, couples, poly relationships and older clients.

Ashley’s therapeutic approach focuses on tailoring his practice to each individual client to ensure the best possible outcomes for their personal circumstances. He draws on techniques including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and is being trained in transactional analysis.

Ashley takes a person-centred and solution-focussed approach and his passion is in empowering his clients to live their most fulfilling and positive life possible, in whichever way suits them best without judgement. He is experienced with ethical non-monogamy and is particularly passionate about sexual health literacy and helping clients navigate non-traditional relationships and lifestyles.

Ashley offers in-person and Zoom therapy sessions.
